Varnish, varnish and more varnish!
Seems like the last couple of months has been spent varnishing everything. Probably because that has been about it. I did have another visit from follow Pietenpol builder Curt Merdan who helped me get one side of the fuselage installed. A much easier job with an extra set of hands. Thanks Curt!
Bottom two pictures show it trimmed up and with a coat of varnish.

Wires, Wings & Controls
Continuing to make progress. Sometimes hard to see, but I been adding cables, remounted the wings again. Spruce wing struts on the saw horses. Shaped and varnished. Need to trim to size.
Stick will have a cork handle I picked up at a bike shop. Just went in and asked about odd or mismatched handle bar grips. He brought out a cardboard box filled with grips. Spotted this one and he sold it me for $1.00. Put some varnish on it and it looks great.

Hat box, glove box, piano hinges
Hat Box
Made an over-lay door. I found this to be much easier than trying to make a fitted door.
Pleased with the result. Light and effective. Probably did not need three magnets, but it won't pop open!
Glove box for front cockpit.
Instrument panel
The back slides on at the bottom and is held by the two screws.
Fitted the piano hinge for the left aileron.
I added an 1/8" spacer thinking I would need it so the aileron would match up to the wing. I have seen some Piets where the aileron did not match up to the wing and I thought it was the difference from using piano hinges versus the strap hinges shown in the plans. I measured it out and figured I needed to add an eighth of an inch. Turns out I did not, so I had to remove part of the spacer. Glad I caught it at this stage and it was not hard to remove with the router. Everything now matches up well.
